There are lots of little things in movies that we notice from time to time; connections to other films and the like.
In watching Pulp Fiction the other day, I realised that when Mia talks about her TV show at dinner with Vincent, she is actually describing Kill Bill! About five women who each had their own fighting abilities, her specialty being knives. I'm sure I'm not the first here to recognise this, anyone else notice? Also, if we have a thread like this, I apologise and could a moderator please merge it with the other thread? Thanks!

I mentioned this in the Transporter thread but it bears repeating here.
At the end of the first Transporter film Jason Stantham's 'transporter character', Frank Martin gets a call. "I need a transporter" says a voice..."I'm listening" he replies. At the start of Collateral Tom Cruise's hit man collects a briefcase from a man at the airport..and who is the man delivering the case? Why it's Jason Statham in a suit...coincidence? Why use such a recognisable actor for such a small (but significant) part..unless it's a nod and a wink to the Transporter? A lot of Stephen King books reference each other and sometimes those references make it into screenplays.. In 'Stand By Me', when talking about the junk yard dog 'Chopper' the narrator says how Chopper was known as the meanest dog in the county "...until old man Chambers' dog got rabies a few years later" (this is a reference to 'Cujo') Cat's Eye, the portmanteu film made up of three King short stories has the cat of the title being chased during the opening credits by a St Bernard ('Cujo' again) and almost run over by a red and white '57 Plymouth Fury ('Christine')

I'll have to watch The Transporter and then Collateral. Have only seen Collateral
Another, but very obvious: Danny Glover's short cameo as the bankrobber in Maverick. They look at each other and then shake their heads like, "Nah". Done because of their costarring in Lethal Weapon. Always found that funny, just because they made it so obvious.

There was a section of top 50 Movie in-jokes a while back in TF, I'll see if i can find it...
Off the top of my head, the teddy bear in Die Hard (in the limo), is the same teddy that Jack Ryan takes home at the end of The Hunt for the Red October. can't think of any more

In the movie Fierce Creatures, John Cleese once "accidentally" refers to Jamie Lee Curtis as "Wanda".
In Dr. No, when Bond first enters No's office, he does a doubletake when he sees a certain painting on an easel. The painting was, in fact, a Goya which had recently been stolen in real life. |

Glover even uses the 'I'm getting too old for this sh*t' line as well.. There's a film that I never actually saw..I only saw the trailer..but it was some kind of kid's fantasy adventure featuring some kind of titular warriors..the clip I saw was of what I assume is the bad guy goading these 'warriors' by clinking bottles on his fingers together in a rythmic 'chink-a-chinking' and wailing "Waaaar-ee-orrrs come out to plaaay-aay" which is from Walter Hill's The Warriors. When George Lazonby is packing at the beginning of OHMSS he handles various props used in earlier Connery Bonds (the strains of 'Underneath the Mango Tree' as he handles the divers knife from Dr No is the only one I can recall now..I'm sure Aries knows the others..I think there's a few bars of 'From Russia with Love' but I can't recall what prop he has from FRWL) He even says straight into the camera at the beginning "This never happened to the other fellow!" (which ruined Lazenby as Bond for me from then on)

I thought of another... The shot in The Two Towers, where Saruman is preparing the explosive and Wormtongue leans in with the candle is identical to the shot in Evil Dead 3, where Ash is also preparing an explosive...

Many of you have probably noticed it in Reservoir Dogs, but in the scene with Joe, Mr. Blonde and Nice Guy Eddie - Mr. Blonde is talking about his P.O. Seymour Scagnetti. He is introduced as a major ballbreaker, and a scumbag.
They describe him so well, and the name is so perfect that i wanted to see this guy. And Lo! In Natural Born Killers we see who he really is. And i think it is safe to say everyone who had been waiting to see him was blown away by his creepiness. In fact that character is only minutely eclipsed in skeeziness by Rodney Dangerfield as the molesting step-father. Also, i dont think it counts, but Q.T. is caught using the same names over and over again. Vincent Vega is Mr. Blonde(Vic Vega) and Travolta from Pulp Fiction. Also i think Marcellus Wallace is mentioned in True Romance in the very beginning when Gary Oldman's character is about to rip off Samuel L. Jackson's character. |

In Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Harry, Ron and Hermione adopt the same famous triple-hug pose of the three lead characters in Y Tu Mama Tambian, which was also directed by Alphonso Cuaron. In Planes Trains and Automobiles, a scene from John Hughes's next movie, She's Having a Baby, is playing in the background as Neal's wife talks on the phone. |

I've noticed a lot in Disney movies.
*Belle walking through a courtyard reading as the camera sweeps over in Hunchback of Notre Dame *Hercules tosses off a lion skin that looks like Scar from Lion King *Jessie the Cowgirl from Toy Story 2 and Nemo as toys in Boo's room in Monsters Inc
